About the event

It's been 35 years since we hosted our first triathlon in St. Albert. Once again we look forward to welcoming athletes of all abilities to our race on August 10 2025.

Set in beautiful St. Albert, known as The Botanical Arts City of Alberta, the race will feature a 25 meter outdoor pool swim followed by a fast bike/run on a rolling, low traffic roadway.

250m swim; 12.6 km bike; 2.5k run

GENERAL INFORMATION

LOCATION

Location - Grosvenor Outdoor Pool - 1 Grenfell Avenue, St. Albert

Race Start Time – 7:30 AM

Note: Each athlete has the option of using their Arrival Time.  This will allow you to show up later and reduce congestion in transition and on the pool deck.  

An email with an athlete guide will be sent to all participants.

There is a BBQ and a beer garden. Spectators are invited to the beer garden. Each athlete over 18 will receive a beer ticket. 

Visitors may purchase a burger and/or a beer at a nominal cost.

Parking

There will be no parking at Grosvenor Outdoor Pool or Grandin Clubhouse

Parking will be available on neighborhood streets nearby

Due to limited parking, it is best if you can be dropped off at the Grosvenor Outdoor Pool

  • Friday, 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm 

  • Saturday, 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm 

  • Sunday: 07:00am to 09:00am

TRANSITION INFO

  • The transition area will open at 6:30 A.M.  

  • Rack positions will be marked by race category  

  • You may arrive at any time after 6:30 am, but you may also prefer to arrive at the time noted on your race package. 

  • Your Arrival Time is approximately 45 minutes before your On Deck Time. 

  • Your On Deck Time is the time that you must be on deck, and ready to swim. Your swim cap and timing chip will be provided to you at that time. Your actual start time may vary slightly depending on a variety of factors, but your recorded time will not start until you cross the start timing mat.  

  • Lost timing chips will cost you $75 to replace. Timing chips must go on the left ankle.  

  • Relay members are not to be inside the transition zone until just before the active member arrives in transition. However, relay members may wait on the grassy area around the transition or the sidewalk beside the pool fence. It is the responsibility of the relay members to monitor the progress of the active member.  

  • There are separate bike rack areas for Sprint distance athletes and Try-a-Tri athletes. Transition volunteers will direct you to the right area when you arrive. These areas should also be outlined in chalk on the pavement.

  • Triathlon Alberta officials will be in transition. They are there to help you have a fantastic race.  Please obey their direction, as they are concerned with your safety and fun for all.

BIKE

A helmet must be on the athlete’s head with the strap fastened while the athlete is in possession of the bike. You may not un-rack your bike without your helmet on.  

  • No riding in the transition area

  • This race is NOT draft legal. No drafting allowed.

  • Aero bars are permitted.

  • No earbuds.

  • The  bike course is a well-marked 4.6k loop

    • Sprint /Team Relay distance:  4 loops

    • Try-a-Tri: 2 loops

The swim takes place in the 25-metre Grosvenor Outdoor Pool, located at 1 Grenfell Avenue in St. Albert.

  • Sprint/Team Relay distance:  750m

  • Try-a-Tri:  250m

  • Only athletes will have access to the change facilities at the pool. 

  • NO DIVING 

  • Athletes who want to change into bike gear after the swim may do so in the change rooms at  the pool.  

  • We have lap counters who will track the number of laps that you do. They will notify you with  one lap to go by putting a kickboard or other flag into the water when you reach the end. You  are still responsible for counting your own laps.

Finish Line

  • Sprint: The run course is a rolling 5k loop inside the lower Grandin neighborhood of St. Albert  

  • Try-a-Tri: A flat 2.7k loop on the inside of the lower Grandin neighborhood  

The finish line is on the soccer field just above Grosvenor Pool. This area provides for a great finish line experience and allows for more spectators and vendor booths to be located.  There will be a photographer at the finish line taking pictures.

Cancellation Policy

  • No refunds.

  • Rollovers to next year's race are available if the Race Director is notified at least 60 days before Race Day. At Race Directors discretion.

  • We are looking for a squad of cheerful and helpful volunteers to help us offer a safe, fun experience for our athletes.  We hope you will consider helping us out out. Click here to volunteer.
