Jason Britton

My name is Erica Prins and I am excited about the opportunity to coach the evening swim program for STARRT triathlon club. I myself have a lot of swimming and triathlon experience. I trained with the Edmonton Triathlon Academy from 2011-2016, during which time I competed in many junior elite and age group races. Today I continue to train recreationally for swimming, biking, and running. I have my NCCP level 1 in triathlon, and I have experience coaching with the ETA, with the city of Edmonton where I worked as a swimming instructor and lifeguard for 8 years, and with the U of A Golden Bears triathlon program for junior high students. My main focus has always been the swim portion of triathlon - not only is it my personal favourite part of a triathlon, but it is also the area that I love to teach and coach the most.

I am currently a PhD student at the University of Alberta, pursuing a degree in soil science. Prior to this I studied and worked abroad in 6 different countries doing a M.Sc. in Viticulture and Enology (the study of grape growing and winemaking) and I had some really incredible opportunities to travel, work, and meet people from around the world. During this time I also got into open water swimming and did several longer distance open water swim races in Australia and Croatia. After 6 years abroad I decided to return home to Edmonton to pursue further education and to focus on soil health in more local agricultural crops.

I have experience coaching swimmers of all ages and abilities, and I look forward to helping all of the swimmers in this group improve their swimming and reach their own personal goals.
